Those Darlins

Those Darlins are a garage rock band from Murfreesboro, TN. The band went live in 2006 and attracted immediate attention for their rowdy, cheerfully sarcastic, and sometimes boozed-fueled show, and for their unique interplay of distinct personalities. Those Darlins’ curious mix of classic country and ragged garage rock makes them one of a kind, eliciting comparisons like, “The Carter Family meets The Black Lips.” In 2009, the band toured feverishly, playing 140 shows and sharing the stage with the likes of Dan Auerbach (of The Black Keys), Deer Tick, King Khan & BBQ Show, Wanda Jackson, and Jon Spencer. They made huge waves at SXSW, Bonnaroo, and Garage Fest. 2010 has already been full, with a Eastern headlining tour selling out many cities, including Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, Washington DC, St. Louis, Louisville, Brimingham, Nashville, and more. They have received widespread critical acclaim for their self-titled debut album, recorded in NYC and produced by Jeff Curtin, whose credits include Vampire Weekend’s debut. Here’s what a few of the critics have said about the album: You can’t resist their charms. — Washington Post Remarkable debut. – KEXP Those Darlins have created an infectious blend of country, rock and punkabilly on their witty, fuzzed-out self-titled debut -Rolling Stone Brisk, breathless, three-minute drum, bass, and baritone ukulele romp of no-bullshit “my way or the highway” declarations sung in slightly jaded three-part harmonies. Meet the Vivian Girls hillbilly cousins. Pitchfork Imagine the Carter Family collaborating with the Ramones—that’s the one-of-a-kind alchemy of Kelley, Jessi and Nikki Darlin. Oprah Magazine A cause for celebration. – Elle Magazine Not since the phenomenon of the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack has a Nashville project had so much potential to bring hardcore country music to a trendsetting, young, broad-based musical audience. — BMI
