The Flaming Lips
Formed in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the Flaming Lips won a well-deserved reputation in the 80s and 90s for their discordant, psychedelic-tinged garage rock. The band has recorded a fine body of off-kilter and unpredictable work and during the last twenty years they have released almost a dozen albums. The band has evolved greatly over the past two decades and continues to break new ground. The Lips are known for unbelievable live shows which are generally punctuated by individuals in furry animal suits, large amounts of balloons and confetti, and general craziness. The group is led by vocalist and guitarist Wayne Coyne who started playing music during his high school days. The line-up also includes Steven Drozd on drums and percussion and Michael Ivins on bass. The Flaming Lips will be releasing their 12th album, “At War With the Mystics” later this year.
