Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band

The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band is often called a family band, and rightly so, since the three-piece band is related! The Rev. Peyton (Finger Style Guitar/Dobro and lead vocals) and Jayme Peyton (Drums) are brothers who have been performing together for 10 years. They developed an early love and proficiency for blues, and over the years have performed with various lineups under various names. When The Rev. Peyton met “Washboard” Breezy (Washboard and Background Vocals) it was a perfect match, and they were married in June of 2003. “When you find a girl who plays washboard, you hold onto her,” says The Reverend. On stage this closeness is obvious, and it comes through in the music. The music itself is a unique hybrid of roots blues styles, while the secret is virtuoso musicianship, a love and respect for the pre-war blues artists that paved the way, and a dedication to writing new songs to bring it forward into modern times. “Washboard” Breezy Peyton describes it like this, “It is an older style of playing yes, but it is dance music too. Rhythmic, primal, and beautiful at the same time.”
