A Midwest phenomenon that has been quietly gathering steam for the past two years, Groovatron shows what happens when you blend jamband indulgence with rock and roll sensibilities. The result makes for a sound that is very concise while also managing to offer a wide range of musical experimentation. Their live shows feature a passion for theatrics along with a propensity for jamming, which generally makes for a very exciting time for all those attending. During Wakarusa 2005, Groovatron played host to a legendary late night set at the Own-Grown stage. Starting at 3:30 in the morning and continuing until sunrise, this late night marathon featured a rotating cast of guests that included members of The String Cheese Incident, Umphrey’s McGee, Perpetual Groove, Moonshine Still, The Station, Speakeasy, Tea Leaf Green, Shanti Groove, and many more. Only time will tell what 2006 holds in store for Groovatron, but if the past is any indicator of the future, the sky is the limit.
