Need a paw at this year’s Wakarusa Music & Camping Festival? The St. Bernards are coming to the rescue!

WAKARUSA and the CENTRAL PLAINS JAMBAND SOCIETY (CPJS) are teaming up to present the ST. BERNARDS program, a volunteer team of festival veterans and Midwestern music lovers who are dedicated to providing friendly, knowledgeable assistance and quick access to festival officials and emergency staff.

Need a locksmith? Had too much sun too fast? Or just lost your festival program? The ST. BERNARDS are here to help! Our corps of volunteers will be dispatched throughout the park to provide information and assistance to those in need. Just look for the friendly faces in the bright orange shirts to make sure your weekend in the beautiful Kansas prairie is as relaxing as possible.

 

The ST. BERNARDS will provide a number of valuable services including:

• Assistance with obtaining medical care. Let’s face it, while the prairie looks peaceful, there are all sorts of maladies that can bring one down. Should a friend have a bit too much delicious Fat Tire in the hot, hot sun, or should you simply find yourself on the menu for chiggers and other critters, look for a ST. BERNARD. We’ll have direct access to medical and emergency personnel, and we’ll get you the help you need.

• Provide and collect incident reports. The ST. BERNARDS will act as eyes and ears to ensure every festival patron is treated fairly and with respect. All Incident Reports will be delivered directly to the festival organizers, so that they can respond to ensure a fair and fun festival for all. Wakarusa's organizers have taken monumental steps to ensure everyone's festival is enjoyable and stress-free, and this service is a key element of those efforts.

• Information on Lawrence services. Lost your keys & need a locksmith? Car stuck in the swamp formerly known as your campsite? Lost the number to your swank Lawrence hotel, and not sure whom to call? Your trusty ST. BERNARD can help – just flag us down when you see us!

• The Camp Outta Site Contest. Can’t imagine going to a festival without building a grand palace to call your home away from home? The ST. BERNARDS want to know! Our volunteers will be accepting nominations for the grooviest campsite. And for those of you who love to decorate but are too timid to throw your hat in the ring? Worry not – a ST. BERNARD just might nominate your site for you!
